How to measure the voltage?

Modified on Sat, 19 Jul at 8:46 PM

The voltage can be measured with a multimeter

It usually takes 2-3 full charge and discharge cycle to acheive battery balance and reaches its full capacity.

1. Resting Voltage at Full Charge

Nominal Voltage: A 12.8V LiFePO₄ battery (4S configuration: 4x3.2V cells) should read 13.6V when fully charged and at rest .

Voltage Range: Normal Fluctuation: 13.4V–13.6V (affected by temperature, battery age, and measurement conditions).

2. Long-Term Maintenance

Regular Equalization: Perform every 2–3 months to prevent capacity fade.

Avoid Extreme Temperatures: Store batteries in a cool, dry place (15–25°C).

Monitor Capacity: Conduct periodic 1/10C discharge tests to track health .

Conclusion

The resting voltage of 13.4V-13.6V is a critical indicator of a healthy, fully charged LiFePO₄ battery. Deviations from this value often point to charging issues, BMS misconfiguration, or aging. By following proper measurement protocols and maintenance practices, you can ensure optimal performance and longevity.

Note: the 14.6V voltage is the charging voltage, the above is the resting voltage.
